It’s been a dry summer! Finally, as I sit here in late August, we’re getting some heavy rains. I can’t help but think, with the cooler water introduced into the Everglades eco system, and with fall right around the corner, the fishing will pick up. The summer was hard, similar to the past few years. Yes, I caught some nice tarpon, and some large redfish, but the mature snook, and fishing in general, was a challenge. I fished mainly later in the day until an hour or so after sunset for most of the summer. It should be very good fishing at that time, but honestly, it took a lot of casts to get hooked up.
On a positive note, a few days ago I sight casted and hooked up with 3 large redfish. I lost one, but landed 2 that had to be 28” plus, which isn’t bad for the Everglades.
Just give me a jingle anytime for an up-to-date report.
Signing off,
Captain Buddy
